TOEFL
Test of English as a Foreign Language is a standardized test conducted by ETS that tests the English language skills of non-native speakers wishing to enroll in English Speaking Universities. It is designed to help you express yourself confidently in English, in the academic environment. The TOEFL test gives you an advantage at universities worldwide including in the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia. It is also popular in France and Germany.
Format of TOEFL
The TOEFL test has four sections and is taken on computer at secure, authorized test centers. The total test takes just under 2 hours to complete, but you should plan for 2.5 hours, allowing 30 minutes for check in. The TOEFL iBT test is scored on a scale of 0 to 120.
Reading: 35 minutes; 20 questions
Listening: 36 minutes; 28 questions
Speaking: 16 minutes; 4 tasks
Writing: 29 minutes; 2 tasks
Your scores will be available in your ETS account 4–8 days after your test date. The exact date you can expect to receive your official scores will be displayed at the end of your TOEFL iBT test.
Your scores are valid for 2 years, so you may want to download and print a PDF copy of your score report. PDF score reports are ready for download 2 days after you receive your scores electronically through your ETS account.
